Yessenia García's career gave her various opportunities and experiences at local and national organizations in the Philadelphia region. A common theme was present throughout those roles: working with the Hispanic & Latino community in various capacities and roles including marketing and communications as well as, creating and translating materials for these same organizations to reach the Hispanic & Latino community. Seeing a need to work with companies and organizations to create bilingual/bi-culturally relevant content, in 2016 she started HOLA: Helping Organizations Leverage Audiences. The agency's mission is to promote all the positive and beauty that is the Latino/Hispanic community locally, regionally, and worldwide through language, culture, food, media, music, and arts, infused with bilingual/bi-culturally appropriate content and communications. During her free time, she volunteers with Photography Without Borders (@photography.without.borders: empowering youth and teens to tell their personal stories through photography) and Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. (@lta1975). She enjoys reading, gardening, hiking, canoeing, listening to podcasts, Spanish graphic t-shirts, spending time with her young adult children, and has a micro business selling her signature flan and sofrito. She has an Instagram page devoted to guacamole (@guacamolesnob) and her rescue dog, Dustin (@thelebrondog). And recently, Yessenia started taking salsa lessons with the goal to join the studio’s dance company and compete in local and national competitions. |
